Artist’s thoughts:
In this Age where we all have access to what everyone else is thinking (aka social media), I feel the drudgery of being “just another voice” crying out in the wilderness. That mindset is a temptation to keep silent and my journey to myself. Besides, no matter what I say, I can imagine all the various types of responses that I could receive; from positive to negative.
However, instead of giving in to the temptation to remain silent and assume that there isn’t anything I could possibly add, I will keep this in mind:
I am a completely unique and collective part of a whole people. Of every circle that I am blessed to be a part of, learn from, and contribute to, I am a small piece of that whole and I can do good work and good works to the benefit of my circles and worlds.
This is a pep talk for you and it is a pep talk for me. Do not grow weary of doing what is good. While doing so, be quick to listen and slow to speak. Constantly find opportunities to show love and grace towards others, because for goodness’ sake, we all need it.
Oh, how I wish I could do better at this.
So here is my contribution to you (individual) and to You (many). I hope everything that I persevere to create and relate through paintings, illustrations, spotlights, and personal transparency; will thrill your mind, affirm your heart, and inspire your steps.
It’s the best that this autistic artist can do.

Autism Spotlight
Destigmatizing Autism one introduction at a time.
Colleagues and friends can always count on Burnett’s honesty and genuine care.
Burnett G. is an openly autistic senior lab technician and neurodiversity advocate. While Burnett does occupy an impressive role in a seemingly technical career, don’t be presumptuous. Having worked as a caregiver for other autistic individuals in the past, it is obvious to point out that Burnett is a very caring and understanding person to say the least.
Burnett uses first-hand experience as an “Autist” to speak for others in the neurodiverse community. This extends to being available on a personal level to those who need a real friend. Friends say of Burnett, “Thank you for always being here to listen” and “You’re one of the only people that I feel I can reach out to”. Burnett does know what it is like to be in others’ shoes and cares very seriously for their wellbeing.
Burnett uses this commitment and authenticity even in the workplace. Colleagues can always count on Burnett in their role as a Senior lab technician in flavor chemistry to systematically identify and organize flavor compounds and the raw ingredients used to construct them. Burnett uses the heightened sensory abilities of Autism in the honing of this valuable skill.
A “direct and honest” person: Burnett is always finding ways to lift up the neuro-diverse community through networking, transparency, and genuine care.
Burnett G. says of Amanda Hebert Hughes – american artist: “I view Amanda Hebert Hughes’ art as brilliant representations of her highly-logical, artistic, autistic mind, and I deeply appreciate and value her dedication to normalizing autism - a natural variant of the human condition- through her thoughtful blog posts in which she elevates autistic voices in a society not designed for us”.

“Everyone discusses my art and pretends to understand, as if it were necessary to understand, when it is simply necessary to love.”
